For desserts like banana cheese and blueberry pie, the airfryer combines speed with precision, giving you bakery-quality results without a conventional oven.

Imagine crafting a pie that’s both rich and fruity with a fraction of the effort. The airfryer makes this dream not only possible but straightforward, turning what once was a labor-intensive process into a delightful culinary adventure.

Ingredients and Tools Needed

To bring this pie to life, you’ll need the following ingredients:

For the crust:

1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

3-4 tablespoons of ice water

For the filling:

2 ripe bananas, mashed

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the blueberry topping:

1 cup fresh blueberries

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

Tools:

Rolling pin

Parchment paper

A pie dish or airfryer-safe pan

Silicone spatula

Preparation of the Crust

Start by sifting your flour into a mixing bowl, adding the cold butter cubes, and working them in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly incorporate the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough holds together. Wrap it in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface and line your airfryer-safe pan. Prick the base with a fork to prevent bubbling. Pre-airfry the crust at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to ensure a crisp base. This step lays the foundation for a pie that won’t sog out.

Making the Banana-Cheese Filling

The filling is where the magic happens. Mash your bananas until smooth, then mix them with softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract. The result should be a silky, fragrant mixture that balances the sweetness of bananas with the tanginess of cream cheese. Spread this filling evenly over your pre-baked crust.

Adding the Blueberry Twist

Blueberries bring vibrancy to the pie, both visually and flavor-wise. Simmer the berries with sugar, water, and cornstarch until the mixture thickens into a glossy compote. Allow it to cool slightly before layering it over the banana-cheese filling. The tangy-sweet topping complements the creamy interior perfectly.

Airfrying: The Art of Precision Baking

Place the pie back in the airfryer and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 15-20 minutes. Keep a watchful eye to prevent overbrowning. The airfryer’s circulating heat ensures an evenly baked pie, while the compact space enhances the caramelization of sugars. Rotate the pan halfway through for a uniformly golden crust.

Serving and Storing Your Pie

Let the pie cool before slicing to allow the layers to set. For a touch of elegance, garnish with a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Leftovers, if any, can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the airfryer for a few minutes to revive the crust’s crispness.

Enjoy the medley of creamy, fruity, and buttery flavors in every bite—a dessert that feels indulgent yet effortless, thanks to the versatility of your airfryer.
