To embark on your treacle sponge pudding journey, you’ll need to assemble and measure a few key ingredients: A. Treacle: The star of the show, treacle provides the distinct deep flavor and sticky sweetness that characterizes this pudding. B. Flour: All-purpose flour forms the base of the pudding, lending structure to the dessert. C. Butter: Unsalted butter adds richness and moisture to the pudding. D. Sugar: Granulated sugar sweetens the pudding and contributes to its soft texture. E. Eggs: Eggs bind the ingredients together and help create a light, airy sponge. F. Milk: Whole milk enhances the creaminess of the pudding batter, resulting in a velvety texture.

Whisk: A whisk is essential for thoroughly incorporating the wet and dry ingredients. C. Pudding basin: Choose a sturdy pudding basin for steaming or baking the pudding. D. Steamer or oven: Depending on your preference, you’ll need either a steamer or an oven to cook the pudding to perfection.

IV. Preparation

Before you begin mixing ingredients, take care of a few preparatory steps: A. Greasing the pudding basin: Grease the pudding basin with butter to prevent the pudding from sticking during cooking. B. Mixing dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar, ensuring an even distribution of ingredients. C. Adding wet ingredients: Incorporate the melted butter, eggs, treacle, and milk into the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
